About
Independent Energy Expertise for Industry and Government
Pacific Energy is a New Zealand-based engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy, embedded generation, and industrial energy optimisation. We work with large energy users and public-sector organisations to plan, design, and deliver projects that reduce emissions, improve resilience, and drive long-term operational savings.
Our strength lies in combining deep technical knowledge with practical, hands-on delivery. We’ve helped industrial sites transition from fossil fuels, guided councils through solar feasibility and implementation, and unlocked value in complex energy infrastructure — all while managing risk and maintaining absolute vendor independence.
From landfill gas generation and heat pump system design to grid-connected solar and resilience-focused battery integration, our work is built around solving real problems in real operational environments. We support our clients across the full project lifecycle — from feasibility and business case development to commissioning and compliance.
We’re not here to sell hardware — we’re here to deliver outcomes.
If you're facing rising energy costs, decarbonisation mandates, or infrastructure constraints, Pacific Energy is your trusted partner for technically sound, commercially viable energy solutions.

About the Founder
Perry Hutchinson
Founder
With over four decades of experience in engineering, project delivery, and energy systems, I founded Pacific Energy Ltd to bring independent, technically sound, and commercially viable energy solutions to industry and government.
I hold a Master of Engineering Studies in Renewable Energy, and a Master of Business Administration (Technology Management. My background spans everything from landfill gas generation, solar PV integration, and industrial energy optimisation to infrastructure-scale project management.
I’ve worked across sectors including power generation, water and wastewater, pulp and paper, mining, and logistics, and led complex multi-stakeholder projects both in New Zealand and internationally.
What sets me apart is the ability to bridge strategy and execution — combining commercial insight with hands-on delivery. I’m committed to providing unbiased, vendor-neutral advice that helps clients manage risk, reduce emissions, and make confident investment decisions in energy and infrastructure.
